The strange and mystical connections between humanity and music is something that inspired thousands to make serious researches on this topic. The information we have to die tells an interesting story with huge significance for humanity, for who we really are today and what we’ve become under the influence of music as a fine art and creative way of expression.
In this article, we will focus more on the history of music, the roots and the influence in our everyday life. We are inspired by the way modern and especially young people see music and understand the different concepts of art.
First of all, we have to go to the beginning of EVERYTHING. Music and art as a whole are closely connected with MAGIC. That’s right! In the ancient, archaic times, the art was syncretic, totally syncretic and mimetic. The radical changes in the way of seeing the creative way of the spiritual/material symbiosis of human expression started developing since antique classical times!
This means that we have a HUGE period of time, thousands and thousands of years where music(Art) was main and most important part of our everyday lives. This is a certain proof that we are genetically modified to develop our personalities and re-shape our characteristics as people also under the influence of music.
To understand this better, you should focus more on researching the prehistoric way of life of the archaic people. They were obsessed with cults. Because of their spiritual way of seeing things, as we already said, they used syncretic art to express themselves and show respect (pay tribute) to their cults (Gods).
Their ‘performances’ were simple rituals that were mixtures of dancing, singing, playing and even painting in some cases. The specific rhythms and strong rhymes of newly ‘discovered’ (invented) words created MAGIC. That’s how the first magic ritual was born.
Meanwhile, people believed in the power of rhythm and music, they believed in so strongly that we just couldn’t understand their mindset. To make it simple- the ritualic way of behaving and thinking was part of their primitive cults that were slowly developing into religions. Many different and more creative ‘music styles’ came up when people started working on plants.
Did you know that the sociologist concept suggests that the music in its TRUE FORM first appeared on the working fields? Why? Because people realized it’s way easier to work in a rhythm or sing while you work. Despite the sacred powers of their ‘songs’, as the time was passing by, subconsciously people started inventing their own rhythms and started building new reality when it comes to the personal and collective expression of the masses at the time.
The first OFFICIAL distinction between music and other arts comes in classic ancient Greece. The drama was the most advanced and popular pan-ritualic stage performance. Of course, it was a religious custom from archaic times- drama plays were actually rituals in honor of God Dionis and they ALWAYS included singing, playing and dancing.
Slowly, as the time was passing by and the new revolutionary instruments were discovered, the music was born. As the human mindset was radically changing, the world of music was also changing, becoming more colorful, more beautiful, interesting and inspiring.
Today, we have various music types and styles. We have millions of artists and thousands of different instruments. Today we have a whole lot of opportunities and we’re just unchained when it comes to our freedom of expression.
One thing is for sure- music played a major role in the development of who we are today and what are we going to become in future. Don’t you agree?
